Dr Briga Hynes is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick, where she plays a leading role in advancing the interconnected areas of entrepreneurship education, research, and practice. Her work has a strong interdisciplinary approach with real-world application, enabling students, entrepreneurs, and organisations to develop the skills and mindset needed to succeed in dynamic and uncertain environments.
Dr Hynes is deeply committed to fostering the entrepreneurial mindset across diverse contexts, supporting start-ups and early-stage ventures through mentoring, market validation processes, pitching development, and strategies for scaling sustainably and healthcare innovation and
leadership. She is actively involved in industry and community partnerships, ensuring her work contributes meaningfully to regional, national, and international entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Her research centres on entrepreneurship education, social entrepreneurship, gender equity in STEM, and innovative approaches to scaling social impact. A key feature is the use of immersive, practice-oriented learning methodologies that bridge the gap between theory and practice, equipping learners to tackle complex societal challenges through entrepreneurial action.
She has a strong track record of securing significant national and international research funding and has played an influential role in shaping policy and practice in entrepreneurship, championing entrepreneurship as a powerful driver of innovation, social progress, and economic development.
